Medical centre cleaning checklist
Published by Puresite Clinical Cleaning ·
Use this as a starting point for your own site-specific schedule. The value is in the room-by-room breakdown — a single generic list is where most medical cleaning falls short.
Consulting rooms (each visit)
- Examination couch — vinyl, frame, base and adjustment levers
- Bench tops and cabinetry fronts
- Basin, tap set and all dispensers
- Door hardware, light switches, curtain pulls
- Waste and sharps bin exteriors and stands
- Patient and clinician seating
- Floors, including under the couch and behind the door
Reception and waiting areas (each visit)
- Counter tops and the front edge patients lean on
- Sign-in screens, EFTPOS terminals and shared pens
- Chair arms, backs and frames — not just seat cushions
- Coffee tables, brochure racks, water cooler taps
- Children's area surfaces and any shared items in scope
- Entry glazing spot-clean, matting and floors
Bathrooms (each visit)
- Pans, seats, cisterns and flush buttons
- Basins, taps, mirrors and splashbacks
- Soap, sanitiser and paper dispensers, plus restocking
- Grab rails, door hardware and locks
- Bins emptied and liners replaced
- Floors mopped, including behind the door and around fixtures
Staff and administration areas
- Kitchen benches, sink, appliance handles and cupboard fronts
- Staff room tables, chairs and shared surfaces
- Meeting rooms and interview spaces
- Admin desks cleaned around paperwork, never through it
Weekly and periodic
- Skirtings, chair legs and low-level dusting
- High dusting — vents, door frames, ceiling-mounted fixtures
- Internal glazing and partition cleaning
- Machine scrubbing of corridors and high-traffic hard floors
- Carpet extraction in waiting rooms and offices
- Detailed cleaning of children's areas and soft furnishings
