Dental clinic cleaning checklist

This checklist covers environmental cleaning only. Instrument reprocessing, autoclave cycles and chairside clinical disinfection remain with your dental team under your own infection-prevention procedures.
Surgery rooms (each visit)
- Floors — swept and damp mopped, including under the chair base
- Chair base, surrounds and pedestal exteriors
- Cabinetry fronts, drawer handles and bench edges
- Basin, tap set and dispensers
- Door hardware, light switches, screen and monitor frames
- Bin stations — exteriors, lids and stands; liners replaced
- Skirtings and low-level wall marks
Left to the clinical team
- Instruments, handpieces and delivery units
- Ultrasonic baths, washer-disinfectors and autoclaves
- Chairside clinical surfaces disinfected between patients
- Regulated clinical and sharps waste
Reception, waiting and bathrooms
- Counters, sign-in points, EFTPOS and phones by agreement
- Seating arms, backs and frames
- Entry glazing, matting and floors
- Bathrooms cleaned fully and consumables restocked
Staff areas and periodic work
- Staff room, kitchen and lockers area
- Sterilisation room floors and general surfaces (by agreement only)
- Periodic machine scrubbing of vinyl and safety flooring
- High dusting and vent exteriors on a set rotation
